New Brunswick has put on hold several programs that lead to permanent residency.

Some programs have been temporarily shut down as New Brunswick has reached its candidate quota for the year.

As of November 15, the following pathways have been temporarily suspended:

The New Brunswick Immigration of Atlantic Immigration Program.

New Brunswick: Description of the Graduate of a Private Career College Pilot Project.

Exploratory visit connection under New Brunswick Strategic Initiative.

New Brunswick Atlantic Immigration Program

Paused Until: End of Year

The following year, the province declared that it won’t be accepting or processing the Employer Expressions of Interest (EOIs) in the AIP.

New Brunswick will maintain the processing of applications for individuals who have applied for full Employer Designation.

In addition, candidates who have an employer Invitation to Apply (ITA) can go on to complete their Employer Designation application.

It has requested the candidates to carry on watching their website in the event of changes being made.

AIP is a program for immigration for skilled workers who wish to work in the Atlantic Canada region. In order to qualify for this program a foreign national must have a valid job offer from a Permitted Employer within the Atlantic Canada region.

As applicable today, the three still running the AIP programme are Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

New Brunswick Private Career College Graduate Pilot

Paused Until: End of Year

New Brunswick has paused the issuance of new nomination certificates under this pilot.

Candidates who receive an ITA can still submit their full nomination application.

Applicants who exceed the 90-day window of eligibility once nominations resume in January will not be eligible to receive a provincial nomination under the terms of this pilot stream, and will have to seek alternative pathways.

The New Brunswick Private Career College Graduate Pilot Program is for international graduates from select one-year and two-year programs that lead to careers in priority occupations such as education and social development, IT, cybersecurity, business administration, supply chain and logistics, and health.

It is accessible to specific private career college graduates in New Brunswick who are not eligible for the federal Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

Exploratory visit connection under New Brunswick Strategic Initiative

Paused Until: Further Notice

The province has also advised that the Exploratory visit connection under the initiative has been closed, and there will be no fresh ITAs.

If the stream is still open when they are in the system, we will consider already submitted Expressions of Interest (EOIs) as they are valid for 365 days from the submission date.

Interested parties who submitted an expression of interest before the 12th of March 2024 will not be considered.

The New Brunswick Strategic Initiative is offered to French speaking foreigners only.

The Exploratory visit connection within it is only for candidates from outside Canada. It expects the candidates to go for an exploratory visit to the province within one year after filing an EOI.

At least five consecutive working days must have passed since the candidate’s exploratory visit to the province to explore employment options. The report from the exploratory visit must be attached whenever the candidate applies.

Candidates interested in settling in New Brunswick can still apply if they meet the criteria for one of the two other connections mentioned below:

Be currently employed within New Brunswick, or have a genuine job offer from a New Brunswick employer.

Meet the criteria for one of the New Brunswick priorities below:

Are a Université de Moncton or Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) graduate from a programme of study within the last 6 months.

Have lived in New Brunswick for one year and have operated remotely for one year for the same Canadian employer not in Quebec; or

While it is slightly off focus have I received a letter of interest from a New Brunswick Immigration Officer.

Many provincial immigration programs shut down early in the year as they reach their target for the year for admissions. Check back here early in 2025 to see if either of these programs have started taking applications again.
