What is the Provincial Nominee Program?

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is the most popular way for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada. Almost every province and territory has a PNP to welcome skilled workers from all over the world and help their economies. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate people who want to immigrate to Canada and settle in a specific province.

The federal government must approve all decisions regarding Canadian permanent residence at the national level, Canada’s provinces cannot grant permanent resident status on their own. This is why provincial programs are referred to as “nominee” programs.

A successful PNP applicant will be nominated by the province to apply for permanent residence with the federal government. This means that applying for a PNP to immigrate to Canada is always the first step in a two-step process. An interested immigrant must first be approved at the provincial level before applying to the federal level.

Who is eligible for Provincial Nominee Program?

This demonstrates that the applicant possesses the necessary skills, education, and work experience to positively contribute to the local economy and society. The province or territory will evaluate the application based on the needs of the province in question and the applicant’s genuine desire to settle there.
