The draw scheduled for today marks the third occasion of March. Earlier in March there were two rounds consisting of a French proficiency examination followed by a Provincial Nominee Program draw.

The Express Entry system performs draws in 2025 alternates between issuing invitations to Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Provincial Nominee Program candidates and French-language skill holders.

The year has delivered multiple draws which distributed thousands of ITAs to qualifying candidates. The most recent CEC draw issued 4000 ITAs to prospective immigrants during February 5 and the CRS requirement was 521. According to records, each of the two French language draws on March 6 and February 19 attracted more than 4,000 participants.

IRCC introduced education as a new priority category through the announcement made on February 27.

  • French-language proficiency;
  • Healthcare and social services occupations;
  • Trade occupations; and
  • Education occupations.

According to an IRCC press release regarding the categories the immigration agency pledged devotion to candidates who have Canadian work experience as well as French-language proficiency in Express Entry.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is an applicant management system that manages three programs for economic immigration to Canada:

The CEC;

The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP); and

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).

Each of these programs applies the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to select candidates who demonstrate capability to meet Canada’s employment requirements and financial contributions as well as the economy as a whole.

The system evaluates human capital elements consisting of age, occupation, education and language proficiency and work experience for each candidate. The CRS scores every individual factor before they combine their points to create a final overall score

Candidates in PNP draws obtain elevated CRS scores because Express Entry applicants gain 600 extra points when a province nominates them.

Potential candidates earn extra points if their relatives reside in Canada or if they enter as married couples.

Candidates who achieve high scores increase their chances of receiving Invitation to Apply from an upcoming Express Entry draw.
