Another significant round of permanent residency invitations issued by Canada is one of the largest selection rounds based on healthcare in 2025.

The latest Express Entry draw that took place on November 14 invited 3,500 candidates in the healthcare and social services occupations category.

This round of selection was a category-based program that selects competent professionals whose training and experience are in much demand throughout the health and community care systems of Canada.

This draw was open to candidates whose Comprehensive Ranking System score is no lower than 462.

This is one of the largest draws in the healthcare category having 3,500 invitations today since the introduction of category-based selection.

As the shortage of talents increases, Canada still focuses on the occupations that are of high priority to population health, elderly, hospital work, mental health, and front-line services.

Who qualifies for the healthcare and social services occupations category?

To receive an invitation in today’s draw, candidates had to meet the following eligibility conditions:

  • Must have at least six months of full-time, continuous work experience within the last three years. Remember, an overall minimum of 1 year of experience is mandatory in any skilled occupation to meet the general Express Entry requirement.
  • Experience must be in one of the healthcare or social services occupations listed for the category
  • Experience can be inside Canada or abroad
  • Experience must be in a single eligible occupation, even if the applicant’s primary Express Entry occupation is different

This direction acknowledges the nature of healthcare training and practice.

Most of the applicants can have a variety of jobs throughout their career life, however, on the condition that they must fulfill the minimum experience requirement in at least one of the qualifying occupations, the applicant can still be qualified.

What’s Next?

The people who were invited today have to file a full permanent residence application in 60 days.

These are identity documents, police certificates, medical exams, evidence of funds where necessary, educational exams, and elaborate employment history.

The processing period of Express Entry permanent residence applications takes between six to eight months on average.

Another significant move towards the government of Canada reinforcing its healthcare workforce is the November 14 healthcare-oriented Express Entry draw.

The federal government is still proving that healthcare workers are one of the priorities in the country by sending 3,500 invitations with a competitive CRS score of 462.

It is a sound opportunity, regardless of whether the candidates are already employed or preparing to enter Canada, because it provides a solid avenue to becoming a permanent resident and have a future in one of the most crucial areas of labour in Canada.
