On July 7, 2026, IRCC issued 2,000 invitations to apply for permanent residence via the Canadian Experience Class Draw.
The Comprehensive Ranking System threshold for this particular round was 517, representing an increase by one point from the previous round for CEC.
This was the second Express Entry Draw in two days as IRCC issued 534 Provincial Nominee Program invites on July 6.
This particular one-point increase in the CRS threshold can be attributed to IRCC decreasing invitations from 4,000 in the previous CEC round to 2,000 in this round.
IRCC seems to be operating under the monthly draw cluster system where it conducts various categories of draws in the first week of July 2026.

Why the CRS Cutoff Rose to 517
In this round of CEC draw, the CRS cut-off score is 517, which is one point higher than the CRS cut-off score of 516 in the last CEC draw round.
It is not due to increased competition among Canadian Experience Class applicants.
The only reason behind the one-point increase is the decrease in number of invitations extended from 4,000 to 2,000.
When IRCC extends fewer invitations, then the system picks candidates from less number of ranks.
This means those candidates who were selected through their ranks in the range of 1-2,000 instead of 1-4,000 in the previous round of CEC draw got invitations.
As fewer invitations are extended to the candidates, CRS cut-off score gets increased as the cut-off happens at the higher rank in the ranking list.
If IRCC had extended 4,000 invitations, then the CRS cut-off score would have stayed around 516.
CEC Draw Comparison at a Glance
As shown below, the lower number of invitations was the direct cause of the rise in the CRS threshold to one point.
| Metric | Previous CEC Draw | July 7, 2026 CEC Draw |
| Invitations Issued | 4,000 | 2,000 |
| CRS Cutoff Score | 516 | 517 |
| CRS Change | — | +1 point |
| ITA Change | — | −2,000 (50% reduction) |
The statistics show that the rise in the CRS score is totally dependent on the change in the number of invitations only.
Who the Canadian Experience Class Targets
The Canadian Experience Class is one of three federal immigration programs operating under the Express Entry framework.
CEC seeks out applicants who have accumulated at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada.
In contrast to the Federal Skilled Worker Program, CEC does not entail a points grid evaluation based on educational level, age, and arranged employment.
The eligible candidates must have had work experience in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations in the three years prior to application.
The draws of CEC always result in lower CRS cutoffs compared to general or PNP draws as candidates compete against each other in this category alone.
This immigration option is one of the easiest ways for temporary residents residing and working in Canada.
Graduates of Canadian universities with Canadian work experience after graduation are one of the main target groups of CEC draws.
Upcoming July 2026 Express Entry Draws
The draw above is the second draw in what will likely be a multi-draw cluster issued by IRCC in July.
IRCC sent out 534 invitations in the PNP on July 6, and followed this up with 2,000 invitations in the CEC on July 7.
It is expected that there will be a draw in the French language proficiency category either tomorrow or in the coming few days.
In keeping with the commitment towards promoting Francophone immigration outside Quebec, IRCC is expected to make use of French language proficiency draws in 2026.
An occupation-based draw, focusing on certain priority TEER categories in healthcare, trades, or STEM could also be issued in July.
Earlier multi-draw clusters in 2026 have included anywhere between three to five draws in the period of seven to ten days.
The following table gives an insight into the expected pattern of draws in the July 2026 draw cluster.
| Draw | Expected Timing | Status |
| Provincial Nominee Program | July 6, 2026 | Completed (534 ITAs) |
| Canadian Experience Class | July 7, 2026 | Completed (2,000 ITAs) |
| French Language Proficiency | July 8–9, 2026 | Anticipated |
| Occupation-Based (TEER) | Later this week | Possible |
Candidates eligible for French language and occupation-based categories must keep their profile updated with current language test scores and occupations.
What Candidates Should Do Now
Those CEC applicants who have received 517+ scores and have submitted their profiles prior to December 29, 2025, should check whether or not they have been invited.
Applicants who barely missed this draw may take steps such as doing further testing in order to improve their CRS scores.
The most efficient approach in terms of increasing a CRS score by 600 is obtaining a provincial nomination.
Applicants whose French language skills are impressive can be ready for the category draw which is expected to take place shortly.
It is important for applicants to keep their Express Entry profile up-to-date with information on work experience, education, and language scores.
Summary of the Express Entry Draw Today
- IRCC issued 2,000 CEC invitations on July 7, 2026, down from 4,000 in the previous CEC draw.
- The CRS cutoff rose by one point to 517 solely because of the reduced invitation volume.
- This is the second Express Entry draw in two days following a PNP round on July 6, 2026.
- The tie-breaking timestamp is December 29, 2025 at 17:49:27 UTC.
- A French language proficiency category draw is widely anticipated tomorrow or later this week.
- A smaller occupation-based round may also follow as part of the July draw cluster.
July 7, 2026 CEC draw proves that IRCC is actively implementing its monthly draw cluster model into 2026 H2.
2,000 invites issued with a CRS cut-off mark of 517 made this round a real opportunity for people having Canadian work experience.
One point increase in the CRS score from the previous CEC draw indicates the difference in the number of invites and not in the competition in the pool.
Candidates can expect further Express Entry draws this week as IRCC proceeds with its July draw cluster.
