How These Changes Impact Applicants

But even these small rises hint that IRCC is preparing to address escalating bureaucratic pressures.

The applicant has to make sure he pays the correct fees when they are recording their application.

The online applications accompany the appropriate fee at the time of application and generally, there should be no reason to worry.

However, here’s what to do if you paid the old fees and sent the application by mail:

If You Paid the Old Fees and mailed the application:

If an application was submitted with old fees before the new rates took effect and was mailed before December 1, IRCC will not reject it.

However, applicants will need to pay the difference between the old and new fees. IRCC will send instructions on how to complete this payment.

How to Pay the Fee Difference

Find out the difference for all applicable fees and for accompanying family members.

Pay in the “Make an additional payment or pay other fees” section on the Website of IRCC.

Enclose the receipt as per the requirements approximated by IRCC in the sample request.

Why IRCC Adjusted Fees

The application fees for IRCC are adjusted depending on inflation rates and fluctuations of services to ensure quality is delivered.

These changes are consistent with the overall goal of the department of simplification of processing, backlog reduction and meeting emerging needs of immigration services.

These latest changes, which came into force on December 1, also indicate IRCC’s further sustainability of the decision to flexibly respond to economic and operational impacts.

Knowledge of these changes is important if you are applying to have your status restored, dealing with inadmissibility or for joining the IEC programs.

Candidates are also advised to cross check their application, fees and their mode of payment so as not to experience delay.

To find out more about it, you can go to IRCC’s main webpage or speak to a registered immigration consultant.
