Latest Express Entry Draw on August 19 Issued 5,000 PR Invitations

IRCC has invited 5,000 individuals to apply for permanent residence in the most recent Express Entry draw held on August 19, 2026 in the French language stream.

The Comprehensive Ranking System cut-off score for the applicant with the lowest score who received an invitation was 382 points, marking a decrease of 9 points from 391 on August 6 and setting a new low cut-off score for the year 2026.

This particular draw ends the second draw cluster of August draws that started with a PNP draw on August 17 followed by a Canadian Experience Class draw on August 18.

A CRS score of 382 is the first time in 2026 that a French-language draw has broken below 391, widening the scope of eligible candidates with moderate French test scores and lower base CRS scores.

Given below is a complete analysis of the draw result, the complete French language draw tracker of 2026, the impact of this CRS fall on candidates and what is coming up next in Express Entry.

August 19 French-Language Proficiency Draw Results

The following table illustrates all official information about the August 19, 2026, French-language proficiency Express Entry draw as provided by IRCC.

Draw Detail Value
Category French-Language Proficiency 2026-V2
Date and Time August 19, 2026 at 12:35:37 UTC
Number of Invitations Issued 5,000
CRS Score of Lowest-Ranked Candidate 382
Rank Needed 5,000 or above
Tie-Breaking Rule March 1, 2026 at 18:34:05 UTC

Applicants who scored exactly 382 received an invitation only if they registered their Express Entry profiles prior to March 1, 2026, at 18:34:05 UTC.

All applicants who had scores higher than 382 and qualified for the French-language proficiency category were invited irrespective of the date of their profile registration.

March 1, 2026, is almost five and a half months before the draw; therefore, one can assume that there is a large number of applicants with exactly 382 CRS points.

Now, all invited applicants have 60 days to file a complete permanent residence application to IRCC.

Why the CRS Cutoff Dropped to a New 2026 Low of 382

Prior to this draw, French language proficiency cut-off scores were in the range of 391-420 in the first nine draws in 2026.

The nine point drop from 391 in the draw of August 6 to 382 in the draw of August 19 is the third largest drop in a French language draw this year after the 21 point drop in the draw of July 22 and the 19 point drop in the draw of April 29.

However, it should be noted that IRCC kept the same 5,000 invitation volume as in the draw of August 6 in this French draw. Therefore, this drop is due to the change in pool structure only.

The probable reason for this is that the draw on August 6 filtered out 5,000 candidates having French-language proficiency near the top of the ranking list, and those candidates entering the pool in the coming two weeks had a lower base CRS score.

The difference with the cut-off of 523 of CEC, which occurred only the previous day, clearly shows the structural advantage enjoyed by French-language draws, the difference being 141 points between the two draws.

A candidate with a CRS score of 382 having French-language test qualifications has been invited in this draw, whereas the same candidate requires 141 more points to be eligible under the CEC draw.

The following table provides all the information about each and every draw made based on French language proficiency in the year 2026, as well as any changes that occurred in the CRS cut-off as the number of invitations issued was changed throughout the year by IRCC.

Date ITAs CRS Cutoff Change
August 19, 2026 5,000 382 -9
August 6, 2026 5,000 391
July 22, 2026 5,000 399 -21
July 9, 2026 5,000 420 +11

March 18, 2026 4,000 393
March 4, 2026 5,500 397 -3
February 6, 2026 8,500 400

In 2026, the number of invitations for French-language proficiency is 50,500 in 10 draws, which makes French-language proficiency one of the largest categories in terms of Express Entry draws for this year, slightly exceeding the number in the Canadian Experience Class.

The CRS trend shows two distinct phases in 2026: the first being an increasing phase from 393 on March 18 until reaching its maximum at 420 on July 9, after which it decreased to the current minimum of 382 since the February draw of 8,500 where the first benchmark of 400 CRS was set.

Second August Draw Cluster Now Complete

The French-language draw on August 19 is the last of the second cluster of draws in August 2026. IRCC follows the same pattern of conducting PNP, CEC, and French language draws in every cluster since March.

In this particular cluster, there have been a total of 6,442 invitations issued. The numbers are as follows: 442 through PNP draw on August 17 with CRS 760, 1,000 through CEC draw on August 18 with CRS 523, and 5,000 through French-language draw on August 19 with CRS 382.

French-language draw has issued 77.6% of all invitations in this cluster.

As at the year 2026, the total number of Express Entry invitations has increased to around 119,865 through 49 draws, surpassing the 113,998 invitations that were extended in the whole year of 2025.

It is noted that up to 82% of all the invitations have been extended in the CEC and French-language draws in the year 2026.

Who Qualifies for French-Language Proficiency Draws

Candidates will have to show proficiency in the French language at level 7 or above in all the four competencies of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, using an acceptable test like TEF Canada or TCF Canada.

The candidate’s test score will need to be no more than two years old when it reaches the immigration officer processing his/her permanent residence application, so candidates should check the expiration date of their test score before using the same.

Candidates will also have to possess an active Express Entry profile and qualify for any one of the three federal programs, which are: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program or Canadian Experience Class.

Processing Times for Express Entry Applications

As per the latest IRCC processing time report released on August 10, 2026, Express Entry permanent residence applications are being processed in about six months for a decision.

Applicants invited in the draw on August 19 can expect their permanent residency approvals in early to mid-2027, according to the existing processing period.

Incomplete documents submitted by applicants have been among the top causes of delays and rejections in processing.

The 9% francophone immigration goal set by IRCC outside Quebec in the 2026 to 2028 Immigration Levels Plan represents a policy promise that will keep French-language draws happening despite any changes to the overall Express Entry system.

The August 19 French-language draw establishes a new 2026 CRS minimum of 382, which is 9 points lower than the previous minimum, proving that French-language fluency continues to be the easiest path in the Express Entry system.

This completes the second draw cluster for August, and candidates should be prepared for the next draw cluster coming early September.
