Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada issued invitations for 442 applicants to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a Provincial Nominee Program draw through the Express Entry system on August 17, 2026.
The CRS score threshold of this round was 760 points, which is eight points lower than the 768 points that were necessary in the last PNP round that took place on August 4.
It is the 47th round of invitations in the year 2026 and the fourth round of this month August, marking the second draw in August 2026.
With this draw, the total number of Express Entry invitations issued in 2026 becomes 113,865 from all draw types.
The following chart illustrates the draw results and compares them with other PNP rounds in 2026, gives insights into the latest pool data snapshot and shows what candidates should expect in the coming days.
August 17 Express Entry PNP Draw Results
The following table contains all the information about the draw on the Provincial Nominee Program Express Entry held by IRCC on August 17.
| Draw Detail | Value |
| Program | Provincial Nominee Program |
| Date and Time | August 17, 2026, at 12:33:42 UTC |
| Number of Invitations Issued | 442 |
| CRS Score of Lowest-Ranked Candidate | 760 |
| Rank Needed | 442 or above |
| Tie-Breaking Rule | August 07, 2026, at 18:01:56 UTC |
Applicants whose CRS score was precisely 760 were invited provided that their Express Entry profile was sent to IRCC before August 7, 2026, at 18:01:56 UTC.
Applicants whose CRS score exceeded 760 were invited irrespective of their profile submission date and time.
What a CRS Score of 760 Means for PNP Candidates
Provincial nomination brings 600 additional points to CRS score in the pool of Express Entry candidates.
The meaning of the 760 threshold is that candidates had a minimum base CRS score of 160 prior to the provincial nomination bonus.
The threshold is still attainable by most provincial nominees, since it is possible to get a base CRS score of 160 in the combination of such parameters as age, education, language proficiency, and Canadian work experience.
The decline in the CRS threshold from 768 on August 4 to 760 on August 17 suggests that there were slightly more candidates with a higher base score nominated recently.
When provinces grant new nominations in bulk, the CRS threshold for subsequent PNP draws is going to change in the next draw due to the pool composition changes.
How This Draw Compares to Earlier PNP Rounds in 2026
IRCC has held specific PNP draws in the beginning of nearly all draw clusters during the course of 2026.
The number of invitations sent out to PNP participants in each draw this year has varied between 264 and 955 depending on the number of new nominations that had been issued by the provinces.
The range of CRS cut-off values for PNP draws in 2026 has extended from a minimum of 708 on July 6th to a maximum of 805 on May 25th according to the different mix of nominations among provincial programs.
The draw on August 17th at CRS 760 and 442 invitations falls squarely in line with the pattern observed in second-cluster PNP draws this year.
| Date | Program | ITAs | CRS Cutoff |
| August 17, 2026 | PNP | 442 | 760 |
| August 4, 2026 | PNP | 507 | 768 |
| July 20, 2026 | PNP | 511 | 744 |
| July 6, 2026 | PNP | 534 | 708 |
The PNP CRS cut-offs are practically determined by the amount of new provincial nominations arriving in the Express Entry system.

What Draws Are Expected to Follow This Week
The recent draw cluster trend for IRCC has involved opening a draw for PNP in the first few days of the week and having subsequent draws throughout the week.
According to the draw cluster trend seen in all previous months, there is going to be a draw for the Canadian Experience Class in the next day or two.
There is also going to be another draw for either the French language or another category that will mark the end of the draw cluster by the end of the week.
IRCC does not make public its schedule for draws and can therefore make changes to the schedule without prior warning.
It is advisable for applicants to keep track of IRCC rounds of invitations each day.
How to Secure a Provincial Nomination in 2026
The 2026-2028 Immigration Levels Plan raised the provincial nominee admissions targets to 91,500 for this year, showing a 66% increase from last year’s smaller allocation numbers.
On August 4th, 2026, the province of Ontario introduced a new immigration stream called the Ontario Workforce Priority which replaced all eight immigration streams of OINP.
Prospective applicants looking to immigrate to Ontario can calculate their expression of interest scores by using the free online OINP calculator.
All four provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan have been conducting active draw schedules throughout the first seven months of 2026 with nomination spots still available.
Applicants who have a provincial nomination get an additional 600 points CRS boost making PNP Express Entry draws the most structurally reliable pathway to permanent residence.
Current Processing Times for Express Entry Applications
New IRCC processing times were released on August 10, revealing that the Canadian Experience Class processing time for permanent residency is at six months.
Those invited in the August 2026 draws will be receiving their permanent residency approvals in early to mid-2027, if current processing times hold up.
IRCC determines the processing times based on the actual outcome of applications and gives a timeframe within which 80% of applications had been given a decision regarding their permanent residence applications.
Incomplete documentation continues to be one of the top reasons for delays and refusals for all economic categories of immigrants.
The August 17 Provincial Nominee Program draw proves that IRCC is keeping its strategy of cluster-based invitations for the latter half of 2026.
Further draws will take place over the following few days to close the cluster.
