IRCC has announced its latest processing time data as of July 7, 2026, and this announcement is largely characterized by another rise in backlogs of citizenship certificates and notable improvements in some categories of permanent residence.
Processing times have reached 19 months now with an extra 17,500 applications added to the list from the last reporting period.
This is the third straight month of sharp increases in citizenship certificates after the processing times had been just three months long as recently as in March 2026.
On a more positive note, citizenship grant processing times have shown their first decrease in several months and fallen to 12 months as the queue decreased by 200 applicants.
Parents and grandparent sponsors outside Quebec showed the largest progress in family classes processing times at 30 months, two months shorter than in June.
Canadian Experience Class processing times declined to six months; non-Express Entry PNP to 12 months; and inland work permit decreased drastically to 129 days.
All IRCC statistics on processing times are calculated on the basis of actual applicant decisions with the reported period being when 80% of applicants receive their decisions.
Citizenship, Permanent Residence, and Family Sponsorship were renewed monthly categories on July 7.
Visitor visas, Study Permits, Work Permits, and PR Cards were the weekly categories renewed on July 2.
Processing times for temporary residents are updated weekly by IRCC, so you may want to come back often, as we will keep updating this article with the most recent weekly information.
The July information comes along with an ongoing Express Entry draw cluster that started on July 6 with a PNP draw and followed on July 7 with a CEC draw sending out 2,000 invitations.
Incomplete documentation continues to be one of the top refusal reasons among all IRCC categories, which makes careful preparation essential for each period of processing.
Below is the full list of processing times of July 2026 release.

The July 2026 IRCC processing times suggest an immigration system that is making progress in its efforts on economic and family sponsorships, yet struggling to process the citizenship certificates at an ever-faster pace.
Some encouraging numbers include 129 days inland work permit, six months CEC, four months less on parent and grandparent sponsorship than in April, and near-record super visa processing times from India.
This month also sees the beginning of the new CRA benefit year, with increased indexed benefits for most federal programs, giving an economic perspective to the immigration process timeline.
Immigrants are advised to make sure that their applications are submitted early enough, with all the necessary documents in place, and to monitor their IRCC portals constantly.
On the other hand, Pakistan stands out as the outlier, increasing by 84 days within one week to reach 179 days, which is the highest among all super visa countries.
