First Express Entry Draw Under the New Category – CRS Cutoff at 429

The Express Entry system has had more invitations to apply (ITA) issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

 

A draw among the candidates in the Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience program was done to issue 250 ITAs by the immigration department.

 

In order to be eligible in this draw, the candidates had to possess

 

An overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 429; and

 

An Express Entry candidate profile of this nature had already been created before 3:10 p.m., Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on August 19, 2025.

It is the first round under the Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience category.

The category itself was first introduced as a part of the overhaul of February 2026, where three new occupational categories were introduced.

 

The eligibility criteria to fall under this category is that the candidate must possess Canadian work experience of at least 12 months in the past three years, in one of four occupations under the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC) system:

 

  • Senior managers- construction, transportation, production and utilities.
  • Senior managers trade, broadcasting and other services.
  • Senior managers- health, education, social and community services and membership organisations.
  • Top managers in financial, communications, and other business services.

Having express entry draws, the immigration department in Canada has been keen on the immigration applicants in the country more especially those with provincial nominations and Canadian work experience.
